From Sign to System

Yandex Music faced an ambitious challenge: transitioning from a purely functional utility to an emotional brand. Initially, the client had only a rough draft of the new symbol — the "Flash" — and a general idea that it should represent a musical impulse.

Brought in as strategic creative partners rather than mere executors, the main task involved establishing a brand framework. This meant defining how a flat graphic element should behave in digital spaces to evoke a genuine sense of inspiration.

The goal was to translate an abstract emotion into strict guidelines for 3D design and digital interfaces.

Conceptualizing the behavior of the symbol required defining how the flash of light interacts with physical objects, distorts space, and adapts its texture across different formats.
