Who Is Guilty?

Client: REBOOT ✖ SALT AND PEPPER

Someone had to put an end to the endless battles between design and frontend. This interactive web-comic and set of rules helped the digital industry find a common language, earning the project a spot on the Webby Awards shortlist.

The Industry's Pain Point

The Industry's Pain Point

REBOOT and Salt & Pepper studios joined forces to solve a classic industry problem: the communication gap between design and development. Having a strong visual metaphor inspired by IKEA instructions, they lacked a cohesive connecting narrative.

The primary task was to transform this internal agency friction into a structured, engaging story. Finding the right tone was key to bridging the gap between designers and developers, turning a technical guide into an exciting narrative understood by both sides.

Irony Over Lectures

To avoid turning the project into a dry lecture, it was packaged as a digital sitcom. While scrolling through the site, the user witnesses a project falling apart due to poor communication.

Adapting the core concepts meant crafting witty dialogues and interface copy. The primary challenge was maintaining a relaxed Tone of Voice—incorporating industry memes and slang without cringing. The copy had to entertain while seamlessly guiding the user toward the project's ultimate value: the educational guides.

Hardcore Craft & Localization

Hardcore Craft & Localization

The interactive story was just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the surface lay two extensive manuals: "How not to screw up a site as a designer" and "...as a developer."

The specific contribution involved:

UX Editing
Transforming raw, highly technical knowledge into clear, concise, and fluff-free instructions.

Bilingual Adaptation
Since the project targeted a global audience, the entire text database was translated and localized into English, carefully adapting local IT humor and tone for the Western market.

Industry Recognition

The project quickly transcended its local scope, becoming a major event for the entire industry. The "painless workflow" manifesto was publicly signed by top market agencies (Creative People, Agima, Red Collar, etc.).

Proof was made that honest dialogue and self-irony can solve systemic business challenges, with well-crafted copy serving as the ultimate tool to deliver this message to thousands of specialists.

The results:

💯 Webby Awards Shortlist.

🔫 Awards: Best of Behance, Tagline Awards, Awwwards.

🎷 48,000+ organic page views with zero advertising budget.
